Dillon would end up being a backup, and Brady would be a step up from Plummer even when Plummer improves.

Just proposed this trade. Is it a smart trade for me or should I cancel immediately? [/ QUOTE ] I wouldn't do it, either. Just look at the ADP of the players involved. Williams/McGeehee is a solid RB duo that went to the same owner in some drafts I looked at (with like the 8-10th pick, and were probably your fist two picks, assuming you're in a keeper league with LT)- would you ever take Brady/Dillon in the 1st and 2nd round for your picks? I know Cadillac sucked week 1 (and is having back spasms) and you're loaded at RB and thin at QB, but you're just giving up way too much value. One of those guys for Brady (or another top QB) straight up is what I would shoot for. |

OK, I've been negotiating with the team that owns Trent Green, Jake Plummer, and Cadillac Williams (he's obviously concerned about Green's injury and Plummer and Cadillac having poor Week 1's), and yesterday I offered him Travis Henry/Drew Brees for Frank Gore (I wound up dropping Brees this morning). He declined that last night, and this afternoon offered me:
Jake Plummer/Cadillac Williams for Carson Palmer/Travis Henry My team (12-team, H2H, standard scoring CBS Sportsline league, start 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 1 K, 1 DST) Ben Roethlisberger Carson Palmer Deuce McAllister LaDainian Tomlinson Cedric Benson Travis Henry Donald Driver Marty Booker Keenan McCardell Marvin Harrison Isaac Bruce Jason Witten John Kasay DST Seahawks His team David Carr Jake Plummer Trent Green Frank Gore Cadillac Williams Willie Parker Chester Taylor Andre Johnson Donte' Stallworth Mark Clayton Ben Troupe Todd Heap Rian Lindell DST Patriots DST Dolphins I had a feeling he would counter trying to get Palmer cheap after his poor fantasy performance Week 1. Unless someone can convince me otherwise, I do not like this trade. Jake Plummer is at best a mediocre fantasy QB. He can put up decent numbers certain weeks, but it is not uncommon for him to throw for less than 150 yds and 1 or no TDs. I had Cadillac Williams on my team last year (traded for him Week 3 or 4). While he was capable of putting up monster stats, he proved to be not very durable, in other words, very inconsistent. One of the most important factors I look for in a FF player is consistency. I kinda think he devalues Cadillac a bit, but I don't see acquiring him without giving up Palmer. IMO, Carson Palmer is too explosive to justify making this trade. The Bengals will certainly not be able to run away with games like they did against the Chiefs (can they?), so I expect Palmer to have solid numbers in most games, close or not. I also love the fact they run a no-huddle offense to keep defenses off balance, allowing them to both pass and run more effectively. Can anyone justify me making this trade? How about a fair counter offer where I don't give up Palmer but somehow get one of his RBs and possibly WRs? I was *thinking* possibly countering with Driver/Henry/Roethlisberger for Stallworth/Taylor. |

Just in case people misunderstand, I'm not asking which of these trades would you RATHER do. Pretend that each of these trades was offered to you in a different fantasy league. If you already have decent depth at WR and RB, which would you do and which would you decline.

No way you make that Palmer trade.
Ask him to personally rank his RBs so you know what you're dealing with. Those guys- Gore, Williams, Parker, C. Taylor- could realisitically be placed in any order 1 through 4 at this point. See which one is easiest to get, and go from there. |

We are a modified keeper league where you can keep 2 guys, limit of 1 per position. The WR and TE positions are 1 consolidated position. RB's get 1/2 point for a reception while WR's get 1 point.
I'm getting Larry Johnson and Drew Bennett. He's getting Anquan Boldin and Willis McGahee. Basically, I now have no WR's after this trade (Galloway, Edwards, Bruce and Heap). I also have LT. The only other bad thing for me is that LJ and LT both have a bye in week 3. I don't see how I turn down his trade offer. Thoughts.... |

I just acquired LJ and Culpepper for Barber and Hassleback, and I'm thinking of moving Steve Smith and a RB to get Portis or something similar, my lineup is:
QB: Warner, Culpepper RB: LJ, C. Taylor, J. Jones, T. Jones, A. Green, L. Maroney WR: Steve Smith, T. Holt, D. Branch, Santana Moss TE: Kellen Winslow K: Kaeding DEF: Tampa Bay Team 1 is the team that traded me LJ, so he's not adverse to making big moves Deal: I get Portis + Burress/Housh, and he gets Smith + Taylor/Green/Jones I can probably also make an offer for Magahee to another team since Rod Smith is his #2. What do I offer him? Straight up for Smith? Team 3: Smith + RB for Ronnie Brown and Andre Johnson/Roy Williams? I can also probably make some deals for Cadillac/Rudi Johnson. Overall should I stick with Smith or try to improve my RBs? |

It's not an obscenely lopsided trade, and presumably you drafted Djax/Dillon/McMichael for a reason. Nothing happened that you need to give up on them after one week. |

Overall should I stick with Smith or try to improve my RBs? [/ QUOTE ] I don't think you have a dire need to improve your RBs, especially not at the expense of your #1 WR. Smith will be back before too long, and if he performs even close to what he has when healthy, you have a very good balanced team. If anything, I'd work on your QB situation. Unless you think Smith's hamstring(s) is going to be a season-long thing, none of those trades you mentioned make sense to me. |
