Matt,

1a. What do you think is my biggest shortcoming as a SH LHE player?
1b. What steps should I take to overcome this?
1c. What limit (5/10 or below) should I play to work on this? Assume the money is not as important as allowing myself to excel to the fullest. Also, how many tables?

2. Given your stance on sex, do you look down upon those who do not share a similar view?

3. When should we do another poker weekend?

4.how many replies do you think this thread will get?

--How much wood could a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?

I think he'd toss one or two pices and then get tired or bored.

--Where do you see yourself regarding poker in 5 years?

Probably playing a little less. I might be playing in the 10/20 - 20/40 range for limit, and maybe 600-1k NL or so. I don't really have any interest in playing higher than that. This, of course, depends on how the games look, and what happens with respect to legislation.

--OK, this time a poker question. What, if any, advantages do you see in "floating"? Is this something that you employ? Is it more applicable as you move up in limits?

I think this is something that applies much more to NL than to limit, where your bluffs carry much, much more weight. In limit, I seldom call preflop with the intention of bluffing at a favorable flop outside of the big blind. In the BB, though, it can be quite profitable. You don't have to put in as much, so it doesn't have to work as often as, say, floating on the button. Only do the latter against people who fancy themselves good hand readers.

--How come sometimes at the table I feel like I'm a genius, whether or not the cards are hitting me... but other times I feel like a complete moron?

Poker is a hard game, and there are countless sticky situations you've never encountered before. Sometimes, those sticky situations will tend to pile up. Alternatively, you may lack proper focus when it doesn't feel right, and you should quit and take a break because you're making mistakes.

--Why do I suck at poker?

Because you're a nit.

I'm up 29BB in 140 hands tonight. I had planned on playing a lot longer. Should I:
- take a break and play more later
- play, play, play!!
- stop playing and save your 'win' for tomorrow
- enter a donkament since variance is obviously on my side

1.a. what poker skill/situation would you best like to tackle that you may have trouble with now

I think I could stand to be a better hand reader. I am good at putting people on a range, but I don't narrow my ranges enough.

1.b. same q as 1.a. but replace poker with life.

I'm a little short on motivation and focus right now. I could stand some more. I might also like to find a girl, but, eh, I'm not desperate or anything.

2.a. if you had a cushy job, but figured you could make the same playing poker in X hours of 3-4 tabling.. what would X have to be for you to quit (e.g. 2000 hours of poker is fairly intense -> burnout more likely.. presumably X would be less than 2K for most people).

I think that if my X was low enough to tempt me to quit, I'd probably just keep the job and continue to play a little poker on the side and make mad bank. I really don't want to be a pro. I don't get enough satisfaction out of it to have it be a career. The most I could see it being is a support in an interlude if I have some sort of breakdown and decide to switch tracks.

2.b. knowing what (little) you know about me, what would you think my X threshold is?

Anyone who sets X at 40 per week is a fool, methinks. It'd have to be somewhere between 20 and 30.

3.a. do you hate multi-part questions?

Not really.

3.b. do you think in complete sentences/thoughts or in phrases/flashes of thoughts (like I do and always add comments in parenths like this)?

I tend to use complete sentences, but there are always flashes of phrases, sights, and sounds.

4. what motivates you to sit at a poker table?

1. Fun
2. Challenge
3. Money

--Which person would you like to ban permanently from 2+2 because you hate him/her personally, but hasn't exactly done anything violating the forum rules (so if you did, it would be mod abuse)?

KaneKungFu is a damn troll in OOT, but apparently he's really damn good at NL and a good poster in HSNL. I had plenty of disagreements with Evan, but he's a decent poster, just a poor mod. Tony Palodino seems like a pretty unsavory character, and, really, Clarkmeister rarely contributes anything useful beyond statments of his own self-worth. I'd really like to be able to get rid of nos1nos2 permanently, but try as we might, he keeps coming back (he's legitimate mod bait, though).

Have you ever played down at the Muck? How are the games? I grew up across the road from there and have considered sitting down but 3/6 live seemed a little steep the last time I was home.

[/ QUOTE ]

Yes, I have. I met up with Ignignokognot around last Thanksgiving. There's a trip report in this forum somewhere, but I'm too lazy to dig it up on my own. The 4/8 game was a gold mine, even with Iggy sitting right in front of me. If you're playing live just once, bring 50 BB and consider it lost money, but you are +EV. Bear in mind that the rake at 4/8 is markedly less onerous than at 3/6.

Why am I a nit?

If you had a bad 1st hour at a table, like really bad, do you continue to play, take a break and cool off a bit?

What should be a standard downswing for a ML player? I know people have had 800BB downswings too at some levels, but whats like a normal?

If you had to give one advice to us players, what would it be?

What the story behind your screenname?

What would it take for you to signup for a session review? (we could whore you to the highest bidder or whoever comes up with the best reason in 25 words or less or some other lame way)

Not too much. Now that I'm playing limit again, I'll probably be involved in one in the next few weeks. I'm not going to announce which one, however.

[/ QUOTE ]
Sweet. If you want to pimp yourself let me know when you signup.

[ QUOTE ]
Suppose I move to 1/2 soon, what new site should I hit up for a signup bonus that will actually have tables running at 7AM USA EST? (Im already signed up with Stars, Party, Paradise, WPEX, Absolute, Golden Riviera, Ultimate Bet and PokerRoom)

Prima has a large Euro base, so they'd have games then, I think. Pick any skin.

[/ QUOTE ]
Any other suggestions?.....Im thinking of Full Tilt based on what info House has given me...not because of the (slow) clearing rate but because of other factors such as datamining, PT/PAHUD, nice tables (apparently). I was considering Interpoker but since Im more concerned with actually winning at the table than bonuses right now I dont want to be at a rocky McRock garden

[ QUOTE ]
Can you send me a 2+2 t-shirt please? Aww, comon..please

Nope, gotta earn it.

[/ QUOTE ]
Fine. Ill organise more Session Reviews, take my 3 Wookie points a pop and chance my luck in the draw.

What Autralian Beers have you drunk and what was your favourite?

Unfortunately, I've only had Fosters, so I have no favorite. I'll see if Beers of the World has an Australia section this weekend and pick up something in your honor. Any recommendations?

[/ QUOTE ]
where is this "Beers of the World" forum/post/thread that you speak of?

Anyway I have to recommend
- Anything by Coopers (Pale Ale or Sparkling Ale being first choice but they have a whole range of others. I'd say if you like Sam Adams then youll enjoy a Pale)
- Anything but Fosters....Fosters is a big joke here (its your budweiser)
- Boags (good stuff)
- Southwark Premium (just a nice solid tasty beer)
- Carlton Cold (probably similar to IceHouse that I had when I was in the states - IceHouse is that the name? it had a blue box, and lightblue slashes across it and was just a bit more expensive than MGB etc but for some reason I was able to drink it without thinking I was drinking a waters down weak assed beer so I suppose I thought it was ok)
- West End Draught (not because I like it but because it is a staple draught of my home state. If you buy Bud/Miller in the states then you'd probably buy this
** There are many other beers but Im not one of these guys who drinks the fancy pants beers just to look cool. Im a Coopers man through and through.

- Not Victorian Bitter...Im not a fan of bitters in general but that [censored] is not for me. Even after 8 beers a VB does not do down well so I think its fair to say I hate Bitters VB looks like Red Stripe bottle brw

Question: What Australian Beers are readily available where you live?

As for the question about my biggest loss, I think it's this hand from Absolute 1/2 6 max:

Hero has K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

Folded to me in the CO. I raise, button cold calls, SB calls, BB folds.

Flop comes A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

Checked to me, and I bet. They both call.

Turn is the A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]

SB checks, I bet, button calls, SB raises, I 3bet, button calls, SB caps, and we both call.

River is 8:heart.

SB bets, I raise, button calls, SB 3bets, I cap, button and SB call.

I show KK, Button shows A4o, and SB shows AJo.
