Where do you see yourself regarding poker in 5 years? |

OK, this time a poker question. What, if any, advantages do you see in "floating"? Is this something that you employ? Is it more applicable as you move up in limits?

How come sometimes at the table I feel like I'm a genius, whether or not the cards are hitting me... but other times I feel like a complete moron?

1.a. what poker skill/situation would you best like to tackle that you may have trouble with now
1.b. same q as 1.a. but replace poker with life. 2.a. if you had a cushy job, but figured you could make the same playing poker in X hours of 3-4 tabling.. what would X have to be for you to quit (e.g. 2000 hours of poker is fairly intense -> burnout more likely.. presumably X would be less than 2K for most people). 2.b. knowing what (little) you know about me, what would you think my X threshold is? 3.a. do you hate multi-part questions? 3.b. do you think in complete sentences/thoughts or in phrases/flashes of thoughts (like I do and always add comments in parenths like this)? 4. what motivates you to sit at a poker table? |

--your answer to my question (meaning of life) was pretty inadequate, so i'm going to press you on some of your other responses.
Yeah, that was kind of deliberate. I don't like that question, because it implies that people can just sit there and "inherit" some sort of meaning for life and then be done with it once they've figured it out, rather than having to go out and do something about it constantly. 1. so you're a virgin? no oral sex or nothing? hand jobs? no masturbation????? Yes, yes, no, no. you say this is a personal decision and that you are old-fashioned/antiquated. can you expand on this? is this tied up in religious dogma (the bible says no humping without a ring, so i don't hump), or are there other ethical/philosophical/sociological reasons for keeping it in your pants? No, it's not strictly dogmatic. Sure, that's where it started, but it is a poor philosopher who stops at dogma and doesn't dig any deeper. I think sex is the ultimate in physical connection and closeness with your partner, and that engaging in the ultimate of the physical is out of balance if you two aren't at a similar level of commitment, love, and such. People don't rush into saying "I love you," so why do they rush into bed? It's all part of the same picture, and rushing into any aspect without developing the others makes for an unhealthy relationship. --2. this is not a question: i'm very interested in john's question about reconciling faith and education. in your response, you say you think there is nothing to reconcile, but when you elaborate you produce a pretty good reconciliation -- one that i wish more christians and, frankly, more scientists would embrace. --in _a brief history of time_, hawking talks about how the big bang does not preclude the existence of God or His creation of the universe; it merely puts some boundaries on *when* he could have done it. Yes, this is exactly what I'm talking about. Everyone knows about 7 days and such, but what people don't know is that it's also written in the Bible that for God, a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years is like a day. The seven days is just because seven is God's number, and God does things in sevens. The author of that passage wasn't actually stating that God took literally seven days as we know them to make the universe. --3. i do not believe that Jesus Christ is my savior, nor that he is the sole way to reach god. i regularly practice sodomy[1], do drugs, exact my wrath on inanimate objects, and lust and covet all manner of people and things. in spite of all this, i think i am a decent human being. i am loyal and loving to friends and family, i help strangers when i am able, i don't lie or cheat, and i recycle. when i die, what will happen to me? While this may be waving a white flag, I'm a big proponent of "Judge not lest ye may be judged," when it comes to people asking me who's going to hell and who's not, or whatever. I'm not the one who decides who ends up where, so I don't like to pretend that I know. However, here are some things that I do know: I do know that if I accept Jesus into my heart and maintain a relationship with Him, I'll end up with Him. Yes, it is written, "[Jesus is] the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through [Him]." I also know that the Jews were God's people before Christ came. Are they all out in the cold just because they were born too soon? I wouldn't like to think so. I don't claim to have an answer to people who ask me if there are other ways. As I said above, all I claim to know is one way that works, and that's the way I've chosen. I'll leave the rest for to God to decide. I do know that there is one true end, and if you're in a relationship with God, if not Jesus, you're at least close. I know that deeds, good or bad, have absolutely no bearing on your salvation, and any Christian who tells you otherwise has severly missed the boat. Everyone has screwed up, and everyone, even after becoming a Christian, will continue to screw up. We can't escape doing things that damage the relationships between us and God and us and our fellow man. All we can do is ask for forgiveness and let God do the mending, sometimes through us. This concept of grace is one of the most important ideas in all of Christian thinking. No one has earned their salvation by being a good little boy. Instead, it's a free gift if we only ask. Now, some say that letting God into your life compells you to behave better, and that doing good works is the manifestation of God in your heart. I also believe that this is true, but that's not to say that someone who does bad things is Godless. One thing I don't know is if sodomy is really a sin as many make it out to be. You've probably noticed I've been using the word "relationship" a lot. That's on purpose. I've come to look at a lot of "sinning" through the lens of relationships. Good actions foster relationships between me and others, or between me and God, and bad actions break relationships. It's pretty easy to see how murder fits into this, but you can also see how things like stealing and coveting and such fundamentally alter the relationships you have with others in an unhealthy way. Sodomy as a sin fits into this as being considered and unnatural relationship. It seems a little wishy-washy to me, since I certainly don't think a gay man is incapable of proper love, even if it's directed differently. This is one where I usually just give up and again plan on deferring to God and seeing what He has to say when I get there. One thing I do know for sure on this issue is that those kicking gays out of the church are dead wrong. Jesus dined with all manner of protitutes, theives, and other sinners, the lowest of the low. He welcomed them, and loved them. One person having broken relationships with others is no excuse to break your own relationship with that person. You're welcome to call them sinners, preacher, as long as you (rightly) call the rest of your congregation sinners, too. Oh, and don't forget yourself, either. Now, you can either kick everyone out, or welcome them all in. |

Which person would you like to ban permanently from 2+2 because you hate him/her personally, but hasn't exactly done anything violating the forum rules (so if you did, it would be mod abuse)?

Have you ever played down at the Muck? How are the games? I grew up across the road from there and have considered sitting down but 3/6 live seemed a little steep the last time I was home.

--When we hit 'Notify Moderator' what message do you get and do you see who Notified Moderator?
I get an e-mail from the e-mail you used to sign up @ 2+2 saying "AussieBattler has notified you of the following post:" and then the text of the post. Then it has a link to the post. What would it take for you to signup for a session review? (we could whore you to the highest bidder or whoever comes up with the best reason in 25 words or less or some other lame way) Not too much. Now that I'm playing limit again, I'll probably be involved in one in the next few weeks. I'm not going to announce which one, however. Suppose I move to 1/2 soon, what new site should I hit up for a signup bonus that will actually have tables running at 7AM USA EST? (Im already signed up with Stars, Party, Paradise, WPEX, Absolute, Golden Riviera, Ultimate Bet and PokerRoom) Prima has a large Euro base, so they'd have games then, I think. Pick any skin. Can you send me a 2+2 t-shirt please? Aww, comon..please Nope, gotta earn it. What really happens in the Moderator forum? (is it like the Stonecutters in the Simpsons?) Sometimes we talk about making new moderators. Sometimes we talk about if someone should be banned. Sometimes we try and get someone unbanned who was banned wrongfully. Sometimes we talk about making a new forum. Sometimes we talk about who's getting the playground next. What Autralian Beers have you drunk and what was your favourite? Unfortunately, I've only had Fosters, so I have no favorite. I'll see if Beers of the World has an Australia section this weekend and pick up something in your honor. Any recommendations? |
