also my understanding is that West Ham is relatively new to EPL. [/ QUOTE ] West Ham spent 10 years in the EPL before being relegated after the 2002-03 season. They were promoted after 2004-05 and finished 9th place last year. |

West Ham can't afford 40 Million and I doubt we will ever know how they paid [/ QUOTE ] west ham can only afford that if prince harry busted some out of his personal pocket book. That really is a fishy deal, but it does make west ham a very strong looking team once ashton gets back from injury I'm rather annoyed that ManU hasn't done crap, and they loaned Rossi to newcastle. There is still around 2 hrs left on the transfer deadline so I'm hoping that the hargreaves deal does go through and that we pick up trezeguet or torres |

Looks like the Reyes/Baptista move is going to be a loan exchange.

I like the moves my team made. Baptista should be sick. The end of that article is interesting,
"The biggest transfer coup of the day came at Upton Park, where West Ham swooped to clinch the double signing of Argentina's World Cup duo Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano from Brazilian club Corinthians. Both clubs refused to reveal the amount West Ham had paid but it is understood that the Premiership side have entered into a ground-breaking agreement with the players' owners – a mixture of Corinthians and the club's parent company, Media Sports Investments – which will see them receive a huge slice of any future sell-on fee." |

[/ QUOTE ] That actually makes a lot more sense then, I suppose. If the pair or either one of them plays well in the EPL, then MSI stands to gain a lot depending on how much of a percentage they get. But if West Ham stands to gain a lot less from selling them, wouldn't they be more inclined to keep them? |

how do you figure they gain less? The % (resale value) could still be the same because it sounds like West Ham got this on the cheap somehow.
