I think it a couple of things i) When I play tired ii) When I play when I don't want to (but think I have to because of the opportunity cost). If I am playing when alert and eager to play then I won't tilt due to bad beats.

I like to impose a cutoff time for my playing. For example, I dont play online past 1:30 am anymore, since I'm much more likely to be tired and play poorly. Also, if I start to feel annoyed or signs of tilt coming on, I try to distance my "clicking finger" from the mouse button, so I have that much more time to think. Also, I'll take a prop like a watch and hold it infront of me as a reminder.

that's encouraging, you are just like me. i play wicked bad if i dont want to play or if i'm tired. some of the people here can put in marathon sessions no matter how they are running and play well. i can't do it. i have a little journal that i jot things down in when i am playing, and one of the things i wrote over and over was, "i play bad when i am tired". so i stopped playing when i am tired. and i'm slowly stopping playing bad.
don't play when you are tired. aim me if you quit because you are tired and i'll give you some congratulations and support. quitting when you know you are going to play bad is just as good as playing good. head that tilt off before it happens. that would be awesome-- i hope i get aim or a pm from you soon that says "i quit because i was tired". it would really make my whole week.
