Default Bribing police officers

I'm in absolutely no trouble with the law, but I was wondering something.

First question. This is certainly location dependent. But, roughly what proportion of police officers would you say is bribeable? Broad question since circumstances could change it one way or another, but you can elaborate however you want.

Second question: Have you, or any friends ever had firsthand experience with a crooked or bribeable cop? interesting stories appreciated

Certain places you'd have a lot higher success then others, but overall I think it's a really bad idea in the usa.

Yea, internationally this is pretty standard in some place, but in the US it's a pretty horrible idea.

Agreed. I wouldn't think of doing it in any first world country. But I did it when I was busted in Thailand. The cop basically told me I could either give him $2,000 USD or spend a couple of months in a Thai prison. It was probably the single easiest decision of my life.

Nothing too crazy really. Got busted with a big bag of weed during a spot check in Northern Thailand. Cops just stopped our driver on the highway (we were coming back from a trek near Chiang Mai) and had us all empty our bags and pockets. There was no sense in even trying to hide it. The main cop simply suggested that I could avoid prison if I gave them the equivalent of $2K. I didn't have that much cash on me, so he generously offered to drive me to the local Western Union-type place to wait for a wire transfer. From what I learned later - it was a damn good thing I didn't have opium (or something stronger) on me. They are very serious about that. I had purchased around a half-ounce for less than $5. So what began as the cheapest weed I ever bought ended up being the most expensive.

Seconded. You can't just say this and not explain.
