Bob,

This sucks, but I think you're making the right choice.

[/ QUOTE ]

i'm really struggling with it for many reasons. i like working there, but TAP clearly has it in for me, so even if i do go back i may not be in the best spot as she is likely going to be principal in a few years. also, i am going to have to work with 2 other science teachers who showed no interest in making any form of compromise in the interest of departmental harmony (and simple decency. my scheduling proposal was completely rational and fair, and anyone who has seen it knows it). how am i supposed to work with them? i am under contract, so i think theoretically they could attempt to block another district from hiring me (but i could just outright quit and play poker for another year), but i'd rather not have that happen. the list goes on and on. it sucks.

Any chance you could point the administration to this thread. I think it would be halarious if they read it, and maybe a train wreck could be started?

It'd also be somewhat funny if the adminstration were 2p2ers.

I'm just going to play devil's advocate here with regards to TAP's motivation. (not that it aleviates your situation much)

TAP is now responsible for the the results that come out of the school along with the Principle. She knows that TTWC is hopelessly incompetent, yet can not be fired. So what do you do? You put her in the position in which she can do the least damage. Generally speaking, kids in an AP class are self (or parent) motivated and will do reasonably well even without the best of instruction. But an idiot teaching Freshman Science is giving a whole new group of students a useless base upon which to proceed into their HS educations.

So it may be that she is trying to do the non-AP students and overall school stats a favor by re-assigning the best of her teachers to the Freshman Science class and mitigating the problems caused by an incompetant teacher by putting her in classes filled with dedicated and more senior students.

(I had to do something like this when I took over management of a learn to swim program for a municipality. All of my most senior and generally better teachers were teaching the advanced, and more fun, skills. But I really wanted the better teaching skills at the lower levels where it would have more of an impact. Pissed off the teachers, but I think it was better for the kids.)

At any rate, this may be a bunch of crap, and she may just be a vindictive bitch, I've certainly seen enough of that in the schools where my wife has taught, but this might at least be a possible explaination. I do agree with the poster who commented on interim administrators. He isn't going to do anthing to rock the boat and my guess is he figures 1 unhappy teacher > 2 unhappy teachers.

Bob,

As much as it sounds like it's not really your personality to brag about yourself, you have to mention the things you said in the original post (good AP scores, enrollment more than doubled in the first 3 years you were there, one of the 3-4 nominated to speak, etc.), preferably with documentation, or the superintendent will have no reason to take your side in this thing.

PB what you need to have is a decapathon(sp) school event in the audithorium.

10 events showing all the differnt things you learn in science the winner gets the schedule they want.

Ask the old principal to call the new principal to vouch for you.
