Default An embarrassing question. What is the official 2+2 laptop?

Sorry, just jumped into OL poker, b&m is killing me, well rather, I would like to try something different for a while.

I presently own a mac os. Looking at all the downloads, the common thread seems to be PC. I would like to buy a new laptop.

What is the most proficient PC 'book out there?
Does anyone use mac?
Intel or AMD?
WiFi?
I don't use blue-tooth, so I would use an external mouse.

I see Dell inspiron alot on this site. I guess this is the main enchilada, huh?

Thanks for the help.

I'd be more embarrassed about my spelling if I were you.

Okay, every one flame me, but can't I get an answer for the trouble.

Sorry, but my experiences ths far with online poker has been disconnections and the like. Since I used my buddies "high tech" computer while these sort of things happened, I would like to know what is really dependable, easy to see, etc. I would shop it all around, but I don't think that Comp USA would appreciate me downloading party on all of their floor models.

Need to know what your budget is.

For laptops, Intel.
Having a laptop with wifi included is nice, but if you have to pay a lot for it...I see it as a waste of money when you can get a card for $10-$30.

Assuming this is just going to be used for poker just look for the best deal around $500 (and you can probably even find one a lot cheaper than that).

For RAM, look to getting anywhere from 512MB to 1Gig. You can save some money on this if you are comfortable adding it yourself and buying it from a seperate retailer (Crucial for instance).

You don't need a super big HD. 20-40GB should be sufficient (then again with Poker Tracker, you may need/want bigger).

And any processor over 1GHz (or 1.5GHz) will be sufficient. You may want faster, but look to spending more money then.

Dell is popular, but there are lots of others companies out there that make laptops that are good enough when they are going to be just used for things like the internet or in your case, poker.

another key is getting monitor that supports 1920x1200 resolution. This is a must for non overlapgaming.

Pretty much every poker player I know worth his salt has a Dell Inspiron 6000.

Macbooks will run Windows better than most Windows machines will. Plus you can use Mac OS when you're not playing poker, which is a huge plus, and they're light.

The Inspiron 6000 is no longer made (you would go insane trying to multitable and see the cards on a 15" 1920x1200 screen anyway - it's bad enough on a 17").

The Inspiron e1705 is the current Dell that supports 1920x1200. It's 17" instead of 15 (good) but it's large and heavy (bad).

I have the 1705 and like it well enough, but if Apple had come out with Boot Camp sooner, I'd have bought a core duo Mini and a 20-inch monitor.

My vote is for a Dell Inspiron as well. (Have two).

Very important: be sure you get at least a 1680x1050 screen to help with the overlap.
