Biggest mistake for Germany was not fully mobilizing their economy for war. Bar none. If they had, they probably would have won in the east vs. russia without it being very close.

[/ QUOTE ] I almost brought this up, and it's widely overlooked. German women were almost never used in industry the way American and British women were, necessitating the use of slave labor, which was very inefficient. A lot of this, again, had to do with Nazi ideology and German attitudes toward women, but it's an important factor that deserves a lot more attention.

Instead they thought they could do it in one go, and that it would be like France. Nope, big difference.

Never thought about this one, but while watching a WWI documentary this afternoon, it occurred to me Germany's biggest mistake in WWII was actually made in 1917 when they arranged it so that Lenin could hijack the Russian Revolution. If not for the communists being in charge, Russia would undoubtedly still have been a weak country 25 years later.
Talk about your short term gain and long term loss.

US not getting involved early enough because they did not believe that there was a genocide.
God allowing hitler to be born. Germans following hitler's propoganda. And my favoreite..US not nuking Germany, as well as Japan.

You honestly think the Czar or a weak democratic government could have developed Russia as much as the communists did in 25 years? I'm as anti-communist as the next guy, but even I have to admit, the economic progress they achieved was nothing short of a miracle. Just shows what terror and killing several million people can do to motivate people.
