I think that Clap Your Hands Say Yeah are for the most part crap and singing with a voice like that does not lend itself to creating good music in any way. It may be artsy or something, but it sucks and I can't get past it.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer is one of the best shows, if not the best, of the past 10 years.

it seems we are arguing about the optimal KIND and AMOUNT of daycare. daycare is not a substitute for a parent. we all realize that. to dismiss it completely is simply closed-minded.

obviously if you send your kid away for 50 hours a week, your priorities are somewhere else. if you let your child have 3 hours of social interaction a week, you are stunting his growth.

Why?

People that choose to have kids should do so only if they can take care of them. Children should not be raised by strangers. These are the most formative years of their lives and rather than getting the attention they need, your child will be one of many, and the amount of interaction and necessary stimuli will be greatly diminished. Even if you have a nanny that raises the kid 1-on-1, i still think that its a huge problem for a child to spend the majority of their time during these early years with a stranger, no matter how loving or caring they are. This is the time for the parent and child bonds to form.

People that have two parents working 9-5 or more and dropping there kids off from 830-6, monday through friday, are not raising children, they are borrowing the day care's children for weekends at the beach.


note: i understand that some people cannot afford to have only one income and still provide for even one child. this, however, is something that should be dealt with. obviously compromises can be made and daycare can be acceptable for a day or two a week, but for the parents to have identical work schedules 40+ hrs per week and drop the kids off at daycare is insane.
