[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] This line seems more based on reputation than what the two teams have actually done on the pitch in the last two weeks. [/ QUOTE ] the problem is that to pull upsets in football you need two things: talented/fast/creative offensive players solid defence Ecuador doesn't have any of those things and world class teams are generally solid defensively even when they're playing poorly. [/ QUOTE ] All I know is that through 3 games each, Ecuador is clearly the better team. Maybe England will live up to their potential, but the expectation on this forum that they should win about 2-0 is questionable at best IMO. [/ QUOTE ] Plato once said: Wise is he that knows what he dosnt know. Clark, go get wise coz you are talking at 100mph out of your shpincter. [/ QUOTE ] Maybe, but jolly old England is making me money this cup. |

Ignore Clark he is just fishing for a bite dont rise to it.
Holland suits us better will be a more english game, although I suspect that route will lead to a big riot in the streets after whoever wins. |

To be fair, England are playing like [censored] (relative to their potential), however that dosnt mean they are [censored].
Sven Goran feckin [censored] is the the problem. England have allways traditionaly punched above thier weight and played with 176.567% heart and commitment ala Stuart Pearce and Bryan Robson et al. Now we have a squad that is on paper world class (anyone disputing this = moraaaan.) and we have a coach that somehow sucks motivation out of the team like a vampire. As one player said of the half time team talk after we lost to Brazil in the last WC; "We needed Winston Churchill but we got Ian Duncan Smith." IDS = totaly uncharasmatic lily livered version of say John Kerry. Excuse the post Pub logic but I think it stands as is. |

I dont know about English soccer or much about Beckham but can someone tell me why the announcers kept ripping on him even after the goal. The announcer said something like this after the goal, "well, he still shouldnt be out there"
Given the low scoring in soccer, I would think that a guy who can take a shot like that would be invaluable to a team, even if the guy stood on one spot the entire game except for free kicks. |

beckham is a good player, but compared to other england midfielders he's mediocre in the open field, useless in traffic and not that much better on set pieces than most of the other available english players.
