The moving up discussion is where I am now and the advice given in the few posts above mirror the split in my feelings and I dont know which way to go.
My BR is around $9k but I only have 27k hands at NL200 with a win rate of 5.5ish, thats playing a 19vpip game. I could take shots but on the other hand I think I need more hands at $200. On top of that my multitable rate is currently 1.7 so I am torn on starting to try and add more tables and get this up more towards 3, or 2 table NL400 and concentrating more. I suspect longer term earn wise I would be better learning to play more tables at the lower stake, but from an improving perspective I am probably better moving up. At this point poker is a hobby but at some points in between contracts I may be looking to make a monthly wage from it. |

so i calculated my hourly rate just now, only for my new SN ofcourse since that's more fun. it's $1600/h 3.0-tabling. [/ QUOTE ] most likely when you post something like this it means you're about to get smoked for 10-15 buy-ins immediately followed by a 10K hand breakeven stretch where you want gouge out your own eyes..pokergods will come aknockin. |

If you have a 9k roll and have played 27k hands beating nl200 then you really should move up. Just don't make such a big deal out of it, try next friday/saturday night a couple hours and see how it goes, if it doesn't work then move down for confidence. But I assure you the players are NOT hard to beat, and you have plenty roll/experience IMO

[ QUOTE ] Looking through PT it looks like the amount of hours I've played (according to it) is way more than I think I have actually played. Is it normally accurate? [/ QUOTE ] You may likely be looking in the wrong place. Go to the session tab, check "show true hourly winrate" and the bottom totals bar of the chart should have your true hours played and hourly winrate. [/ QUOTE ] Yea, I'm there... it tells me I'm only averaging 100 hands an hour 6 max. Mostly 3 tabling, some 4 tabling. Edit: I sometimes will forget to turn off autoimport ... so maybe it is quite a few hours of 0 hands/hour importing? |

I only have 40k 6 max hands experience after switching earlier. I have done a bit datamining so will probably look to jump into decent looking games and see how it goes. Have had a couple of goes already but only 500 hands. |

The only limit I didn't have to take multiple shots to beat was 200nl, and that was because I started with a small heater. (I now play mostly 600nl fyi, taking shots at 1000nl) So anyways you have to learn at some point, and IMO the hardest part with moving up in midstakes (and small I guess) is getting used to the swings and betsizes, not the players. And to do that you have to start playing the higher limits because you'll never be "ready" before you've tried
