Getting cards printed up is going to be a waste unless you have some embossed seal or something on it. I got a 160-pack of clean edge card stock from office depot for about $20, then designed my own. I basically copied my school business office design, which I liked visually, but didn't feel like paying $50 for 100 cards that look the same as the ones I make myself with an HP color deskjet. I downloaded the template from the Avery website and the printing was easy. If you do it that way you can change the title whenever you want.

I like "professional poker player" in all lower case. If you try to go funny/ironic, it'll turn out just like getting your college girlfriend's name tattooed on your butt. It'll seem like a fabulous idea at first, but then you'll just have to explain it away for a long time.

The idea is mostly a novelty anyway. As I mentioned before, most of the people I'll be giving the card to will be social contacts. Combined with the fact that I can always buy/make new cards and my actual occupation doesn't exactly require any sort of gravitas, I'm fine with metaphorically having "Sarah" on my ass, at least for now.

To each his own I guess. I have found that I use my cards far less for "business" than for giving my cell # or email address to social contacts. I think they're actually a huge asset to have, and if my job did not provide them, I would definitely make my own.

I would just imagine that at least half the people you gave a card to wouldn't get it, and then you'd have to waste valuable time explaining it to them. A lot of them would probably just think you were kind of a wanker for making inside jokes on your contact information. That's the price you pay for being smarter and wittier than most people. I'm imagining you handing one of these to some girl at a club who is kind of hitting on you but is getting dragged off to a different club by her friends. Which would be better, having her find the card in the morning and remember you were that oddly-attractive pro poker player she talked to or having her find it and be like "donkey killer? wtf? Oh right... that guy was kind of creepy."

I actually had a serious conversation about getting matching tattoos with a colege girlfriend named Sarah. Luckily, I found out she was cheating on me before anything got put on that would have to be removed with acid.
