Default dell inspiron e1705 + 2007fp monitor

new setup. i play 8-12 tables on party, 3/6 NL. i want a good setup

going w/ the 17inch, widescreen dell inspiron e1705. from what i hear, it sounds like a good model.

simple questions:

processor and memory. im using this for poker/school/occasional games like call of duty 2 or warcraft iii kind of games.

its $1k for the 1.66 ghz duo processor and 512 mb ram at 533 Mhz. it costs $200 more to bump it up to 1.83 ghz and $280 more to go up to 2 ghz. do i need this?

it also costs $80 to go to 1 GB ram, and $240 to GB ram. do i need this?

those are basically the only cost issues.

video card - if im running one other monitor, the dell 2007fp, do i need a better video card? the inspiron comes with Integrated Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 950, or i could get the 256MB ATI MOBILITY™ RADEON® X1400 HyperMemory for $120, or the 256MB NVIDIA® GeForce™ Go 7900 GS for $230. do i need either of them? do i want either of them?

thanks

I am thinking of the same setup but with 2- 2007fp monitors with the e1705. I've been told that you would probably want to get the x1400 at lease, maybe even the 7900 if you have the money. Get at least 1gb of ram. Don't worry about the process. 1.66 is good. Go to notebookforums.com and if you have more questions.

I have just checked and the intergrated graphics will support up to 1600 X 1200 resolution so you should be OK at base level for poker but do not know enough about gaming requirements to comment on that side. May be best to take it to the mniddle ground for safety but the top end is overkill for what you need.

Do get 1GB of memory though as 512MB is not enough.

Edit - just noticed that the Media Accelerator 950 is NOT dual display capable so you will need an upgrade but top level is far more than you need.

alright sweet so im going to go w/the 1 GB of ram and the mobile radeon card. i barely use it for gaming, like warcraft 3 every once in a while, so that should be fine

thanks
