There is a ten minute single-shot rape scene in the movie Irreversible that makes every scene mentioned so far look like the care bear christmas special. Half the theater walked out when I saw it. The movie, while incredibly violent and disturbing, is actually pretty good.

[/ QUOTE ]

I rented this movie because everyone on this board has been raving about it. I wasn't all that impressed. I think the point of the whole film was simply to disturb you. Which I was, but I've seen worse depravity party hoping on a Saturday night.

[/ QUOTE ]

Wtf? When you go party hopping women are being raped and beaten, and guys are having their skulls smashed in with fire extinguishers?

[/ QUOTE ]

Is it Friday already?

This is from IMDB's trivia for Irreversible:

[ QUOTE ]
The first 30 minutes of the film has a background noise with a frequency of 28Hz (low frequency, almost inaudible), similar to the noise produced by an earthquake. In humans, it causes nausea, sickness and vertigo. It was the main cause of people walking out of the theaters during the first part of the film in places like Cannes and San Sebastian. In fact, it was added with the purpose of getting this reaction

[/ QUOTE ]

Did anybody feel really funny during the first half hour?

I apologize for the mini-jack, but I am curious.

[/ QUOTE ]

I think that IMDB quote overstates things a bit. The low hum is clearly audible, and it had no effect on me other than making me think it's a rather odd sound effect. Don't worry though, there's plenty of other things to disturb you in the movie . If you like exploitation movies you will definitely enjoy IRREVERSIBLE.

Has anyone seen Cannibal Holocaust? I almost puked during the scene where he stabs the muskrat and stopped there. Apparently there's also rape, turtles getting their heads cut off, and a pile of dead buried babies?

[/ QUOTE ]

I have seen CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST, and the muskrat scene is absolutely brutal and socially irresponsible. The whole movie is nasty. A similar, but much better flick is Deodato's previous effort, JUNGLE HOLOCAUST.

The aforementioned muskrat scene is CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST is up there on the disturbo-meter. The only thing I have seen that might top it are the actual human executions in AFRICA ADDIO. That movie also contains a horrific extended helicopter shot of miles upon miles of dismembered animal corpses along the banks of a river in a wildlife preserve ravaged by poachers.

Honorable mention goes to the heroin injection montage at the end of STORY OF A JUNKIE.

This french movie is probably one of the most fvcked up movies I've ever seen but its also amazing. Basically the same format as Momento in a way, but it makes you dizzy between scenes and contains some of the weirdest moments you'll ever see. Not to keep going w/ the rape scenes, but the sheer reality of it makes it hard to watch although it won't exactly send you puking. It just kind of makes you feel terrible as a person.

One of the most disturbing scenes for me is the sequence in "The Sixth Sense" in which Haley Joel Osment watches the videotape the little dead girl made of her mother poisoning her. I can't watch that film again because of that scene.

For me one of the most disturbing scenes is in Trainspotting, the first time I watched it I was 6 months pregnant. It's the scene where Ewan Mcgregor is trying to get clean and he sees the dead baby crawling along the ceiling. I have to leave the room everytime I see it.
Another one was in Blood In Blood Out, when they break the guys back by dropping him on a fire hydrant.
Oh and the City of God hand or foot scene got to me too.

Not only did this not happen, you didn't even see anything.

Pixote - there's a few really disturbing scenes in there, but the one towards the end where Pixote ends up nursing is especially bad
