I always try to avoid animals, but I ran over a raccoon once late at night, couldn't avoid it no matter what I did.

About a decade ago, my brother and I are leaving a friends house. He lives on the outskirts of town and we'd been getting coked up and practicing to be rawkstars. Well this cat bolts out about 20 ft. in front of my car and gets across the road safely, no problem.

As I close in at 55mph to where the cat crossed, this dog bolts out in front of the car, all of his attention is on chasing that cat. Needless to say, he ate my bumper with a howl. I felt bad about it until I got home and saw that he'd knocked off my front license plate, then I got pissed. You gotta admit though, that was one crafty cat.

I've hit a couple of squirrels too. It always makes me feel bad. Hell, I get anxious when it looks like I'm about to hit a butterfly.

It seems like for one short period of time every year that the roads are strewn with raccoon carcasses which sucks because that's one of my favorite animals.
