TT,

I'll be in the city tomorrow if you need some in-person lessons, its really not that hard at all. I think you can work around the hand strength issues, which may be why the diagrams arent helping.

TT--

I learned to use chopsticks a long time ago in spite of being the world's most uncoordinated klutz. Nowadays I am having trouble with my hands (especially the right one), a combo of arthritis in the joints and a repetitive stress issue from computer overuse. Some days I can't even hold a can of coke in my right hand. I have the devil's own time opening many kinds of packaging. But I can still use my chopsticks. So there's hope.

I have so much [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] for LOL! Once again you just made my day. I have days that are similar with my left hand, I lost total feeling from my index finger to the left part of the palm after the accident for a few months, but sometimes it returns for short periods. Good to know I'm not hopeless, just a klutzy spazz when it comes to chopsticks.

Give me a head's-up next time you are in Vegas. There's a very good sushi place a couple of blocks from my abode, and we can klutz it up together and schmooze about life on St. Mark's Place....

chop sticks remind me of the amish. nothing wrong with it but a refusal to belong to the current time.

i applied for amish status. i was rejected regarding something about long hair, unwillingness to shave, smelled like a hippie.

when i was a younster, i swam at a quarry. many amish kids who come to fish would come by to visit. we partied. hope the elders dont find out.

I have searched for this thread 3 times since it's inception because of my chopstick ineptness (ineptitude???). I need to seek it no more. With this bump I submit a pic of tonights sushi feast (another introduction made to me by OOT) to pay tribute to the chopstick thread.

I have something to admit.... I don't know how to use chopsticks. I've tried so many times, I even bought those stupid beginners sticks with a spring, but for me its like I'm retarded... I become the most socially awkward person in the world.

So here is my offer OOT. Teach me how to use chopsticks and I'll give you $100. If I learn from a combination of posters I'll split the money. If I still don't learn, or if I'm just too lazy to do anything about it then you are SOL.

Anyone up for the challenge?

PS: I have some nerve damage, my hands are weak due to a skiing accident. This should make it extra hard

So what do you do when you go out to a nice sushi place? Ask for a fork?

[/ QUOTE ]I've done this at plenty of places. I can use chopsticks, but its easier for me to use a fork so I do.
