TT,

You missed my point.

Eating lunch out with my friends is 1- expensive 2- not healthy.

Dids,

What you can do is go out to lunch but just order something small then later in the afternoon, have a good snack, like some fruit or a small portion of soup. That way you will not overeat at lunch. If you let your friends know that you are on a weight loss program it will make it easier for you to keep to that.

I have actually found that eating a lot of small meals and snacks is better than eating 3 meals a day, because I never let myself get hungry. When I get hungry there is the temptation to pig out. Also you will have energy when it is time to exercise.

Max,

That's kinda what I'm leaning towards. Basically I want the social part of lunch (and they all know what's up with the weightloss plan) but not the cost or the calories.

I just restocked my fridge at work with yogurt for snacks.

Still dropping!

Been to the gym the past few days. First time I've made it in consecutive days.

The work week goes well. I get the structure I need. Weekends are not so good.

Things I need to work on:

- still going on those walks on breaks. Did it a little the past week, but not enough

- drinking water, not putting nearly enough of it away

http://www.bdids.com/weightloss.html is also updated if you want to see more topless fat people.

Good for you, Dids. Keep it up!

I find the lack of regular updates from the rest of you guys disappointing; I hope you make the sponsors pay the full amount. I know how hard it is, I hope you all keep working at it.

I will be buying a camera in the next few days so that I can update regularly. I had to borrow a friend's camera but could only use it for a week or so.

Saw this thread awhile ago, and I'm rooting for everyone! I just started a weight loss plan this past Monday. I'm going with the Weight Watchers point system, so lets see how it goes. I'll keep a weekly update on here, if it isn't too big of a hijack.

My stats - 26 years old, huge fatty (380 lbs on Monday morning), 6'3". I thought I was 350 before I weighed myself. Whoops!

So far - I haven't reweighed myself, planning on doing that once a week (every Monday morning). I get 34 points per day and another 35 points to use whenever I want throughout the week, and I've kept under my limit each day so far this week. Essentially, you get a point for every 50 calories or 12 grams of fat in any food. So basically I'm eating a 1500 calorie, 48 grams of fat diet. Definitely a cutback from my norm.

I'm trying to work out 3-4 times per week. 30 minutes of running is supposed to give me an additional 9 points per day for WW. I ran 20 minutes yesterday and today, but haven't used the extra points yet. Supposedly you get to bank them for use throughout the week.

Goal - 100 lbs off by 6/1/07, and 25 lbs off by 8/1/06.

Wish me luck!

Latest update.

weight: 298.6 lbs

total loss 8.6 lbs

The diet plan is still going well, though im now on the look out for other healthy recipes in addition to the one cook book i have. If anyone has any recommendations for cookbooks designed with one or two people in mind and that provide nutritional information, im open for suggestion. I did, after discussing with some friends, realize that for the first week or so i was essentially starving myself, in that a person of my size uses around 2400 calories a day, and the minimum number required for healthy wieght loss is around 1600. I was definitly eating around 1200 a day. So, ive added in a couple of fruit/veggie snacks, and a meal replacement shake into my daily routine.

The exercise program is proceeding nicely. Im still doing near-daily bouts on the bike of ~7 miles, and have also increased my general level of activity by biking while watching tv (not very high impact, usually very slow-paced) and also by walking to the store a few times a week. One thing i am lacking in is adding more core exercises to my routine. I am wanting to increase my level of muscle mass to promote a more efficient burning of calories. Sadly, i hate situps and have done virtually none. Thats the goal for this week.

One serious problem im having is my bi-weekly trips to the lake. My friend has a place, and pretty much all we do is sit around and drink. This usually entails at least 20 beers a day, and not very healthy food. I think this has seriously hampered my progress. In that i will not being giving up drinking in excess just to be skinny, im thinking of trying to improve my eating. Im thinking of taking some of the vegetarian grill-food replacements with me. Im sure that will entail quite a bit of mockery, but if it comes down to a choice between alcohol, and meat, thats no choice at all.

in general, life proceeds quite nicely, many people have commented on how much happier ive been lately (this diet plan is only partly responsibly), and i think im dating a 21 year old chick with sassy-librarian glasses.

peace

john nickle

Not a cookbook but Epicurious can be a good place to get recipes and ideas. Its Bon Appetit and Gourmet magazines website, they have a healthy cooking section here and they have a pretty good search and the recipes seem to have nutritional information.

They have reader reviews on most of the recipes so you can get an idea of what you are getting yourself into, just ignore the ones that say [censored] like "so I substituted water for pineaple juice, I didn't have fresh tuna so I used canned and it tasted like poop!"

Glad to hear that the defating is going well!
