well...7 seasons is long

what else is there to explore?

Crash people vs Others

Full history of others/Dharma

final resolution b/w crash and others

rescue or death or contentness on the island?

that's like 2 more seasons TOPS, they will DEFINITELY drag it out for the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

[/ QUOTE ]
Can you articulate exactly why you should have even a semblence of credibilty on this issue? Thanks.

[/ QUOTE ]

When the show first came on, there were NUMEROUS interviews where Abrams and company said the show would only 4-5 seasons but some of those interviews also stated that ABC thought the show could do 7 seasons. Now out of nowhere there's all these sources saying the show's going 7 seasons. So if they're gonna really do 7 seasons, we know it was ABC's choice not Abrams.

What about the fact that compasses don't work because of the island? How is Michael supposed to actually get off the island? Same thing with Desmond; maybe he just went in a huge circle.

The show was never planned as a 4 season show. And CC and DL have way more imput into what happens then JJ.

Couple a thing

I remember reading somewhere that when Cindy vanished right before Shannon was shot, in the scene before her disapearance she is carrying something and in the scene right after...Libby has whatever she was carrying.

Charlie may have been affected by the EMT or maybe he's just realieved ala Boone because he thinks both Locke and Eko are dead. He was kind of a "slave" to both of them. Charlie only cares about one thing..himself. And for himself the only important thing to him is that Claire cares about him and wants him with her. That may be why he was so indifferent to what happened to Locke Eko the hatch etc. He got what he wants so he no longer cares.

I personally [censored] hate the Charlie character.

The look by Jack might have a actually been a "I'm sorry" look. Since it was in large part his fault for them being captured.

Do we know that Henry really doesnt want the button pushed?

Him telling Locke a lie might have been just more of a mindfuck than anything else.

Remember they were really concerned if Walt was appearing anywhere he wasnt supposed to be---which he was.
And everytime he was appearing he was saying "Don't push the button, the button is bad".

If you think there are to many teases cliffhangers etc just shut the [censored] up and go watch Criminal Minds instead. No one cares if you think the show has jumped the shark because your obviously an idiot.

A bad episode of LOSt is still equal if not better than any epsiode of television on right now.

And for the record this season of 24 was 10x better than any past season of 24.

1. how does a computer keep working after being in such a powerful electromagnetic field
2. what are the mechanics of the charging up in the hatch anyway? why didn't things just get permanently grounded? Why does someone need energy to build, then reset every 108 minutes?

[/ QUOTE ]

Why don't they write a computer program in [censored] basic or whatever that computer runs on to automatically enter the numbers every 108 minutes?

The reason is likely because the numbers only needed to be pressed post-incident. Then again, perhaps there needed to be human presence in the station and the button was there to keep people around.

Because the writers don't care, but I can give a sci-fi answer too... Because with the electromagnetic activity, the 100 MHz clock inside the computer will drift too much and be unreliable for keeping time.

What about the timer that controls the 108 minute countdown?

Wow. Awesome stuff. Can't wait for the next season now. Couple of points.

First point. People seem to be confused about the magnet in the hatch. There is a big electromagnet that gets increasingly charged (and thus more magnetic) until it reaches a critical point and then releases a huge electromagnetic pulse (EMP). The EMP is what crashed the survivors plane, not "being pulled by the magnet". I mean, come on people.

No one can survive in a magnetic field strong enough to drag a plane a few miles. If the plane got pulled in by the magnet there would be no one alive on the island, whereas the EMP idea makes a lot of sense. It also accounts for the white flash that everyone on the island saw when the timer ran down.

Second point. The Russian guys at the end who were sitting there observing waiting for a big electromagnetic event. It seems that they are trying to locate the island. If this is the case then the purpose of the button is to prevent people from being able to find the island. The button must get pressed otherwise a huge EMP is emitted which can allow people "outside" to find the otherwise shielded island.

Great stuff anyway, can't wait for more.

[/ QUOTE ]

How did the EMP disrupt the plane enough to cause it to crash and yet the computer in the hatch keeps working? A real EMP destroys all electronic equipment. I do not think the cause of the plane crash is fully explained. The swan hatch obviously had something to do with it, but a magnet so big that it pulls a 747 at 30000 ft out of the sky is not a reasonable explanation and neither is an EMP, because other electronics on the island survived.

Also, there is little evidence to suggest that the island is somehow shielded. It is likely it is just remote. After all, people seem to have no trouble getting there. Someone built the hatches, set up the experiments, several ships, planes, balloons, etc have crashed there. Desmond had trouble leaving b/c his compass didn't work with the electromagnetic interference, but the Others told Michael that he could leave by heading 325 degrees. There's no reason to doubt what they said since they've been honest in all their other promises to Michael.

The purpose of pushing the button is to prevent the EM energy from getting too strong, like it does during the system failures.

Purely mechanical.
