Re: Pumping the pot with a flush draw
[ QUOTE ]
MP2 had QJ of hearts for the flush. When MP2 stayed for all the flop action, then bet the turn, it seemed like most people will most likely have a flush, even a generally weak player. I can't imagine a weak player calling and calling, then getting excited about a King and betting in front of the guy that capped it. I wasn't so sure as to fold, but raising the turn or river just seems too risky when if I am beat, it will usually be with the nuts.

Take care that you don't see this particular result as confirmation you played the turn/river correctly. You yourself said the MP2 was a weak player who could call down w/losers, and that read only expands the possible range of hands he could be betting on the turn. And even if you had no read, small stakes players in general are capable of pulling loony moves all the time. Maybe he slowplayed something like a straight, set, K-K or A-K, or is donk-betting/bluffing a mid PP or A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]-X, etc. Sure, he could have hit a bigger flush, but that's only one of numerous other possibilities, so you must raise for value. You can't find a monster under the bed yet.
