... Emery is horrible. Just a terrible game by him, and I cannot see Ottawa winning this series if he continues to play like this. ...

I did not think Emery played that bad, I can't really say he let in any soft goals. The biggest problem for the Sens was they had so many horrible turnovers, mostly from the defenseman. At the same time, Buffalo's forwards put alot of pressure on them and created many of chances off Ottawa's failed breakouts.

I think the 6th and 7th goals were incredibly soft. Drury's shot wasn't even close to picking a corner but Emery wasn't anywhere near the post. And he didn't exactly come up with any big saves either.

Emery was definitely soft in that game. He especially could have had the Drury game winner. Compared to Miller, he definitely missed more shots that he COULD have gotten whereas Miller let in a few, but a lot of them he had no chance on. That one goal where Ottawa finally put it home on the fourth rebound opportunity was just a complete failure of defense for Buffalo and should not be faulted to Miller.

Emery is a very agile and athletic goalie, but he's young and it seemed like he was out of position for many of the goals. It's also worth noting that he only had 23 shots against where Miller had 33 shots against.

Miller - Save % .818
Emery - Save % .696

And all Ottawa talks about it how sloppy there D was with no one giving credit to the Sabres for creating the havoc that forced the sloppiness (aside from the OT winner where Defenseman just totally effed up clearing it)

I keep reading and hearing about how bad Ottawa played, but no one mentions how well the Sabres have been playing, its as though the Sabres got a "gift" the Sabres are for real and it will take them winning this series to get any kind of respect at all, even though they will be pushed as a cinderella team if they get there.....But I dont understand how a top 5 points team overall in the reg season is a "Cinderella"

...but anyways, onto tonights game 2...I dont see Buffalo taking 2 in Ottawa and we have already stolen home ice, I still see a tight affair with much better Goaltending and a a 3-2 or 4-2 Ottawa win...unfortunatley.

LETS GO SABRES!!!!!!

I agree completely. The #4 seed is grossly misleading when you look at the records. They are the Dallas Mavericks of the NHL if you will, except the Mavs weren't picked to finish last in their conference before the season.

Tonights game - the '99 team was in a similar spot a couple of times. Completely outplayed in Ottawa Game 1, Hasek stole it and the Sabres went on to sweep. Also outplayed in Dallas Game 1 of the finals in a victory, the Sabres played a better game in Game 2 but so did Dallas and they lost. It's obviously not a must-win but they can't just mail it in. I think a lot of Sabres fans overrate the importance of home ice because of how the Flyers series went down, but that was the exception more than the rule; it's certainly not a gimme that we're going to run away with every home game this time around.

I can't remember a more intense period. Ottawa came out HARD. Too bad about Connolly, hope he's ok. I have no problems with the hit. Great period from Miller.
