Clearly this movie was infinitely better than Bad Santa, cmon.
Vince Vaughn definitely put himself in the elite group of comedy actors after this film, pretty much up there where Will Ferrell is. His one liners and nonsensical rants were brilliant at times. He carried the film on his shoulders. |

Funny you mention him, but the only downer of the movie for me was the Will Ferrell character (Chaz) introduced late into the movie. Didn't think the flick needed him. |

i just saw this last night. i found it to be completly dissappointing and formulaic. vince vaughn in swingers, made, old school = greatness, vince vaughn in mr. and mrs. smith, wedding crashers does not equal great. btw, vv is looking very bad on screen these days also. i cant believe everyone loved this movie, but i guess thats why the same movie keeps getting made...

d/l it last week. A couple of decent moments but didnt tickle my funny bone at all. Soooo formulaic - can't think of an original gag in the entire film.

Saw it today. Maybe I'm too old, (although my father loved it), but I didn't find it uproariously hilarious. It was funny in parts. The last hour really dragged.
Good cinematography and good people in the supporting roles. I'm neither a Vince Vaughn nor Owen Wilson fan--two hours of both of them can get repititious, since they each basically have one facial expression. But there's some funny dialogue, and the dinner scene is great. Better than most comedies, but somewhat disappointing to me, given how everyone I had spoken to absolutely loved it. |

my gf is listening to the commentary on the dvd right now and vince vaughn actually is sounding like a really unintelligent person. he's just going over and over the bit where owen wilson uses visine to look like he's crying.
"YOU SEE, YOU ARE TRYING TO LOOK LIKE YOU ARE CRYING...AND LATER...YOU PRETEND AS IF YOU DIDN'T WANT HER TO SEE IT..." i mean, he is seriously explaining and overexplaining this average/obvious bit, laughing the whole time. then the scene comes up where owen expresses regret over it, and he's like, "see! that was the setup!!" |
