Default USB flash drive crashing my computer

I just got a USB flash drive to put my key pass file on, but every time I plug it into my computer, it locks up with a bluescreen that says

Page_Fault_In_Nonpaged_Area
and then a bunch of other nonsense.

I tried my flash drive on a friends computer and it worked fine, so something is up with my machine. I'm running XP with all the current updates, and USB 2.0.
I have tried using the flash drive on a PCI USB card and a built in USB port and gotten the same result on each. I'm stumped and frustrated, any help would be greatly appriciated.

Try to google for "Page_Fault_In_Nonpaged_Area" and some other keywords, for example the model of your usb device. I did a quick search but I could not find anything helpful with only the error message, unfortunately...

I would check to see if there are any updated drivers from your PC manufacturer. Sometimes new devices come out that aren't completely supported on your PC without a driver update. Check your manufacturer website or with their support line to see if there any updated drivers. The most important ones I would check for first are USB bus and chipset drivers.

Sounds like a buggy BIOS. You could try to flash the BIOS to the newest offered by the manu.
