i am not sure about the marathon in november. i am running now and getting fitter, but i have a long way to go. i'll keep you posted. as far as snakes, i hate [censored] snakes.

He grinded his way up, had some bad swings, and eventually won a 750k guaranteed on Party for 150k. I'd never have played if it weren't for my friend, and Mike probably wouldn't have succeeded without me. All three of our lives are significantly better because of it.

Player pools are so huge that not helping a nice fish 'because it will hurt the games' is a childish joke. I firmly believe I have significantly helped dozens of players, and those players have probably helped dozens more. The number on the bottom of my pokertracker continues to grow faster and faster - why shouldnt I help people again?

While I'm pretty sure this post wasn't really a reponse to my "why?" I will point out that I wasn't suggesting Bob did anything wrong. I was mostly just curious why he decided to give this guy a book as opposed to the other countless idiots he plays with.

the guy in question is just a really nice, friendly guy who i have struck up a friendship with. we don't get together outside of the card-room or anything like that. he just is a good guy. as far as the other idiots, most of them i would like to cut into little pieces.

Classy move. I don't think it's such a big deal because it will keep you honest about your game- you can't think he's going to all of the sudden start taking your money at the tables just because he read a book he probably would have come across eventually anyway. Also, you're probably saving him a lot of money. There are plenty of other fish.

I have no qualms helping good people, regardless of if it's -EV. My sense of self worth is worth more than the game of poker.

Don't get me wrong... I've helped out a few players because they were friends or good people. I'm just simply stating that is indeed bad for the game.
