A couple of players from my local cardroom told me that Hachem was already broke and on the rail.

[ QUOTE ] Don't they take 3 percent from the prize pool? That means he's already tipped far more than is necessary. MM [/ QUOTE ] I agree, but isn't the $100 tip just a jerk move? Isn't it just better to leave nothing and say "the tip was already taken out of the prize pool". What is the point to $100? It is like leaving the waitress an extra penny after the gratuity was added to the bill. [/ QUOTE ] I think the point is that it was $100 extra for the final table dealer(s) specifically. It's hardly a penny. I don't know anyone who wouldn't like an extra $100 bill at the end of their shift. |

Dealers are whiney little bitches, deal the cards and shut up, it's not brain surgery and you're not helping me to win. I'll tip if I feel like it and if I'm guilt tripped I'll never play at your casino again.
I heard this one dealer bitching one time about how somebody just tipped him like $50 after winning like a a 9K bad beat jackpot or something. This is the equivalent of the lottery commissioner expecting a huge "tip" from the lottery winner. Tipping shouldnt be a percentage, especially dealing with these astronomical sums of money. The reason you go by % when at a restaurant is because supposedly the waiter had to do alot more work on a larger check (more items ordered, more complexity, more people to fill up drinks, etc.). However it takes the EXACT same amount of energy/effort/skill to deal a round of poker, doesn't matter if it's 2/4 of 20/40 NL. |

I might have misread something from earlier in the trainwreck, I mean thread. |

Don't they take 3 percent from the prize pool? That means he's already tipped far more than is necessary. MM [/ QUOTE ] It's 2% according to replies.. My question is.. what is paying the hourly income of the dealers? Is it this 2%? The tournament isn't a $10k buyin, it's $9400+600. Can I assume that most of the $600 per entry isn't really covering additional wages past what the dealers are expecting to make? Does anyone have any idea? This reminds me of the Stoltzman incident at the WPO. If the entry fee is used to pay the dealers, then how the hell has Hachem tipped $250,000? Everyone paid the $600. None of it was ever in the prize pool to begin with. At the most, hachem 'tipped' $200 plus $100. -kyo |

They had already taken over $165000 from his share of the prize pool. $165,000 seem plenty to me. How much more do they want?

Dealers make MINIMUM WAGE. Since everyone seems to hate toking dealers, then just stop. Never tip another dealer again. When everyone in the box is making $5.15 an hour the quality of brick and mortar poker play will plummet. Ten hands an hour if your lucky, dealers not paying any attention, grumpy, laughing when you take a beat, misdeals, errors, the list would go on and on. But hey, at least you won't have to kick a little back to show appreciation for winning money. Screw dealers. |

The idea of a dealer laughing after giving you a bad beat because he isnt getting tipped is hilarious. |
