[ QUOTE ]
Raise the flop. The whole rest of the hand plays out differently. At that point, the villain could easily have been betting into on a draw (str8 draw? Have no idea if he has a flush) or a 5 often enough that the raise is for value. Plus, it's an oppurtunity to take a free showdown. Raise the flop check the turn (If it's checked to you) call the river. The way you played it, you should fold the turn. The way you played the turn, just call the three bet on the river. [/ QUOTE ] My only question is are you prepared to fold to a 3 bet on the flop. I think calling the flop 3 bet is silly just to fold the turn unimproved (23.5:1). I could be wrong but I think this is a chk/call situation commonly referenced by "nate tha great" where you maximize your winnings if the guy is bluffing by calling him down, and if you're in fact behind, you lose the minimum. Now, if you were guaranteed this guy would not 3 bet the flop, the flop raise and the chk behind turn, call river unimpoved would be the cheapest way to get to show down; I just don't care for the decision I'd have to make if this guy three bet the flop. That said, which line do you prefer #23, the aggressive or the passive? In either situation, I would just call the river 3 bet. |

I'm at work, i'll get you the suits later but I'm pretty sure it was 1 of each suit on the flop. On the flop I was hoping for semi bluff, and on the river I was hoping for a made hand. I got lucky. On the turn and river I tried to lose as small as possible just in case I was behind. On the river, I capped it. I was right, the play was not ideal and that's why I definitely thought it was messy.

i think its an easy fold on the flop. rasing is another option if this guy is prone to bluffing/semibluffing. i just call the 3-bet because you have to put him on some kind of bluff if you are calling and the 9 fills a straight draw.

I would probably call a three bet and fold UI on the turn. Remember, we can improve our hand with a 9,8 or Q on the turn. The BDSD is still in effect. Plus, it is the rare player that bluff three bets on the flop. If this is that player, I say "Salud" and give him the pot if we don't hit.
