I 9-table and I've never used any tools. I'm sure they would help, but I just haven't invested yet. So from my experience, not "essential".

I find PA to be useless, distracting, and borderline cheating. You definately don't need it to play the $11's or $22's.

Pokertracker is slow and clumsy, but at least it imports sngs now.

Borderline cheating? It's using data on your own harddrive? It's not a shared data base at all. I don't understand. Could you extrapolate?

Dont listen to him...its not cheating AT ALL. If that;s cheating then so is this board, etc, etc...

I love both of them.

I use PA Hud, but i dont think it has helped me all that much. The stats are great and all, but when you throw out your own reads and base desicions solely on stats something is lost...

I can see using it at the $55's +, but I don't play the same people often enough at lower limits. I guess it helps to know when you're playing against another heavy multi-tabler.

As for the "borderline cheating". It does SQL queries on your database and calculates (adds, tabulates) for you in real time. This would not be allowed in any casino. Would it be cheating if PA showed you ICM calculations? I think so. Why is that such a strech from "flop's seen" percentages?

Party doesn't think it's cheating yet, so that's what matters. But many people have had to ask the forum if it is cheating, because it is on the borderline.

How can it be both useless and cheating?
