Hi all,
I would appreciate any help with how I played this hand. About 40 left in this Stars 180 $22. Villain has been slightly tight-passive preflop and average postflop. On the turn, I raise 800, figuring I'll represent a mediocre hand, while at the same time narrowing the field. I then decided to push all in, because I concluded that the possibility of an evil river card (flush, likely straight) outweighed the risks of a better straight. I also considered check-calling a medium bet on the river. Thanks! I think at some point you have to fear the T9 straight. A bet and a raise and the button still thinks he's good enough to raise here.
I think the call preflop is also questionable. I want more callers in this pot before I'll complete with non-suited connectors. Just my opinion though. Given the way you played it I'm slowing down when he reraises a bet and a raise. Probably call and take the action on the river. The check on the flop could be a set from the button and he's over playing it now that the straight is on board. Call a mediumish bet on the river. Ick- the more I think about this hand the more I'm not sure. Someone want to clear it up better than I did? Please! |

Let me break it down :
Pre-flop : I call because I close the action and it is only 200 for a 1400 so 7:1 is enough. Flop : Checked around this is perfect. Turn : You hit the straight. You want to go all-in. I would fear a little the Button, but nothing to do to escape this. It's not like you both have 15k. You want to double up to have a chance to go deep. Overall I like it, but I would have raised to 1200 noty only a min-raise. |
