Default We\'re not playing Tiddlywinks

Hand from yesterday. This is my first hand at the table. Average pot size was big so I sat. Everyone except 1 player was new to me (and he is the tilty guy from other hands, but not tilty at the time) so I assume they all suck and it's a good game. In the little I watched I saw some people get mixed into multiway pots with hands containing a 9-J door.

7 Card Stud High-Low ($30/$60), Ante $5, Bring-In $10 (converter)

I like it all the way. Now that it's heads up, I might go ahead and bet 6th, unless I think S3 is trapping. I tend to be the perpetual optimist, however.

I would probably have just called on fourth. Definitely check sixth. The other guy isn't folding, so you need to make a hand. He's either got rolled Sevens or brain damage.

If the J7 folds to my 4th street raise I have the best hand instead of 3rd place.

I don't like the 5th street cap, given Seat 3's board. If you hit a king or queen, you're going to be first to act on 6th with no improvement, likely drawing to half the pot and if you hit an ace, deuce, or 6, you're not going to be crazy about leading those either.

It's going to be pretty tough to scoop this pot and I think the value you get of an extra bet when you hit solid is less than the equity you lose when you have to act first on 6th or villian improves and you get an extra bet in behind.

Yeah, you're right. I'd think J7 would be folding for one bet most of the time anyway.

i would have gone another bet on 4th. i think theres value there. i could be wrong though.

the cap on 5th is interesting. i like the purpose of it, in that he cant bet 6th so we get to get another bet in when we catch and we dont pay any more bets when we brick. however, if hes rolled and he pairs his board hell probably lead out. if we pair well be forced to bet ourselves. this means that a bet goes in on 6th near 2/5 of the time assuming hes always rolled. of course, hes not always rolled so its less than that, but the play is close cause our equity fares to be pretty high on 5th.

i think capping is good for metagame so i like it in that sense, but im pretty lost on whether its correct or not.
