This article by Chris Hedges, who graduated from seminary at Harvard Divinity School and worked for many years as a foreign correspondent for The New York Times, warns that the Christian Right is the most dangerous mass movement in American history.
This article is so close to the bone, equating christian right with fascism, that I can't wait to hear the objections. |

I'll add to bill's point that I believe there is little difference in the danger posed by Christian fundies telling me what I should and shouldn't do at the barrel of a gun and socialists telling me what I should and shouldn't do at the barrel of a gun. Neither side is satisfied without everyone around them marching to their own personal tune, whether they like it or not. |

The thread declared that "X is the most dangerous" and someone responds with, "no Y is the most dangerous and furthermore X wouldn't even be a problem if not for Y" and you call that a hijack? It seems entirely on topic to me. Just because you don't like the opinion expressed doesn't make it a hijack in any way shape or form. Now your post and this post are hijacks. :P |

[/ QUOTE ] To most of the other ACists credit, like pvn and Shake, they stopped hijacking threads in this manner a while ago. I realize you're new to the club so you may feel some kind of obligation to demonstrate you're a true believer, but I'm certain they'll still give you a jacket and a membership card if you don't do this. |

So you'd be a big supporter of Hitler by this logic, right? Not only did he plot the destruction his democratic state, he followed through. I love how acers are almost universally incapable of distinguishing the relative merits of different incarnations of the state. When you fail to acknowledge any difference between a representative democracy and a religious dictatorship you show everyone what you really are: fringe utopians, idealists. |
