I don't think I'd ever want to do this, but if anyone has a system which allows them to play online poker on the job, I bet there's a lot of 2+2ers who are interested in that information. Whether it is a workaround to company firewalls or a lenient boss, how do you get away with it?

I'm currently consulting at a company who recently fired a guy for playing poker and otherwise abusing the internet all day. Apparently, they told him by dropping a stack of paper about 5 inches thick on his desk and saying "here's your internet activity in the last [however long]. You're fired." I've also noticed that anything with any relation to the word poker (even podcasts on iTunes) is blocked by their firewall.

Stuff like that worries me. Clicking on 2+2 several hundred times a day isn't really that hard to do. Will that get me busted? Nobody has said anything to me yet but it's not like I want them to.

Add: But I don't play poker at work and never really would consider it. Some people on the boards have mentioned it and at some jobs it seems fine to do if you really are there just to sit there.

I had a good window seat, used alt-tab.
Also I have played on my laptop that was at home using logmein on a work pc, no noticible lag and just works in a browser so could be a workaround. |

Do some sites do mobile phone interfaces? Are they any good?

i play at work, but i own my own business now. before, the person who wrote my paycheck didnt like it, and she said things about it, but in april i cleared 25K so it was sort of like, well, deal with it because you dont pay me near that and my contribution to this company is huge.
i just didnt do it directly in front of her, although one time i won a $1000 SNG when i was on a small BR and went nuts in front of the whole office. so, yeah, heh. if i were you i would look into the companies policies regarding it, try and be friends with those who would care, stand out as a hard worker, and then not let ANYONE else see you playing, because that's what they're worried about; someone seeing you [censored] off and thinking they can [censored] off, too. |

I play, but I'm in a different kind of situation, where I'm the only person in the store, and it's a slower type of store with lots of downtime. However, I've also recently broke a lot of long standing sales records for our city.
Also, I don't play on the company computers. I just bring my laptop, plug in to the router, and off I go. Therefore, there is no info on the company computers about this. They may be able to go through the ISP to get them, I don't know, but I gotta think that if that's the case, they're looking for something to fire me for, and if they look long enough, they can find something on anybody. |

I actually play live poker at work. My office setting is similar to "The Office" minus Stanley.

Poker at work is where I draw the line. It just isn't worth it if you get busted.
