villain is chekdstak on stars, a TAG. no reads other than that.

edit: i don't care about preflop sometimes i call sometimes i reraise.

i think it's either this or call turn fold to a river bet, no? or if i call turn river is a heart and he checks i would definitely bet big.

I think this is fine, and a better line than call turn/fold to river bet. Too many sucky cards can come.

half bluff, half protection from the 4th heart coming. he probably folds some better hands that aren't strong enough to call a raise on this board, and i just don't see him semibluffing over the top of my raise with a hand that's worse than mine but maybe i'm wrong.

Well, I can really see where you're comming from because this is a very tricky situation. I have to say that Im not really sure about this.
I normally call here and reevaluate riv, this is almost always goin to be a gut decision here. I just think that raising the turn turns a hand that has showdown value, into a bluffing hand which I dont really like.

But I can really see other opinions here because these situations are really tough...

How about raising the flop instead of the turn? If he had re-raised us then we could have folded and we would have lost less than we did by raising the turn. Raising the flop

a) protects our hand (plenty of turn scare cards)

b) defines our hand early on

IMO, raising flop>>>raising turn
