Default Decreasing tilt

Tilt is something that will always be there for most people. Some people just have a better way of not letting it come out. For me a typical sessin goes iwth me, winning about 9 buy ins, then taking a bad beat for a buy in, then losing 5 more tilting in the final 5 minutes before i can quit. So normally i end up alot less then i should. I have heard all kinds fo remedies, from tea, to chewing gum, to yoga, etc. This is something that has plagued me forever. What can i do?

The ugly and most direct answer is, "What are you getting out of this behavior that makes it worth it?"

Do you feel vindicated, is it a monetary form of a beating, etc? Those questions are rhetorical, do not reply, but hopefully you see where the idea is coming from?

You are giving yourself something, some feeling that makes it worth it to you to do this. Perhaps it is why you play poker because you can do this without hurting yourself or others?

Once you decide you know why you do this, then you can decide if you wish to continue with this behavior or not. Perhaps giving back some of the money is well worth the payoff you are giving yourself.

I just read this in the beginer section (Im not too proud) to read it some times theres some tips there. any way here it is

If I'm at a casino, I like to play slots for $.01. I put in $5, and play for 15-20 mins. Online, I like to play the fake money tournies, and I go all in on the first hand everytime. I keep rebuying until I win a hand. Then I play the tourny until I win/ get knocked out. You will find it funny as hell when you go all in w/ 9-3o and catch runner runner for a straight. It relieves the tension for me and I calm down.

AC Slater has the right answer: stop it.

The key to your issue, I think, it the part in bold: you seem to think this is happening to you instead of being something you are doing.

You'll stop it when you decide to.

What is required here is to simply realize that you are not on your game, whenever that may be. Simply leave your tables when this happens with no questions asked - just leave. This took me a while to realize how I felt when I was actually playing off my game, but now I find it easy to walk away when I start playing poorly.

All you have to do is notice yourself calling raises/making more raises with sub marginal hands. Once you notice that, then all it takes is a few clicks and your out of the game.

If you still want to play, I have found it very effective to just go down to micro stakes and punish the poor first timers. Raise every pot if you like, simply dont pay off their monster hands and you will come out ahead.
