He was the only one I remember that was openly gay and he didn't have a hard time. His cellmate was a blood with 20 years, and they actually got along well. Being someone who supplied weed may have contributed to this, though.

He wasn't flamboyant about his orientation, and he respected other people, so this may have also contributed.
