I must stress however that jail and prison are two completely different things, and that prison is 10 times better.

What do you mean in the above quote?
How are the card games in prison?
Do the guards commonly confiscate your money, cigarettes etc.?

Prison is better because you have more freedom. You can regularly go outside, you are guaranteed a bed, and you can buy alot more things (such as a TV and better food). Alot of jails are overcrowded and sometimes you have to sleep on a matress on the floor. Also, time moves alot quicker in prison, because you generally are assigned a job, which helps you get into a routine.
People in jail are good at cards, because they have plenty of time to practice. I played some spades and hearts, but most of the time I played poker, which consisted of 7 card stud, 5 card draw, and lowball using 10 cent chips.
You are allowed to have cigarettes in Prison, so they don't confiscate them. And technically gambling isn't allowed, so some guards will stop it, but alot off them don't care.
