Re: Ask Layzie about Heroin Addiction/Doing Time In Prison
[ QUOTE ]
What is the difference between "jail" and "prison"
How does the underground trade economy actually work in prison?

Jail is where you are brought when you are arressted, and where you serve city time. When you are sentenced to over a year, you are now property of the state (Department of Corrections) and are sent to prison. This is how it is in Virginia, and i'm pretty sure it's the same in most states.
Prison is the same as the street, only everything moves slower. There are drugs and there are drug dealers. Most people who are locked up are capable of selling drugs, but you have to be careful, which makes things move slower. Money is in the form of cigarettes usually, but could also be in the form of food, or stamps etc.
