This advice is so overrated. I generally don't berate players because most of the times I just don't care. If it makes me feel better to call some guy a *bleep* moron, I'll do it and move on (although I don't think I've ever done it just because someone outdrew me in a pot, it generally means the guy has been a prick at the table for some time). At small stakes people suck because they suck, not because they're not caring or all other reasons authors generally use to give this advice.

Not berating other players should have a lot more to do with you not wanting be an idiot than worrying about EV.
