Alberta) trying new cocktails can be a pleasure (Although she is no longer there). The Alembic (in the Upper Haight) is also a place where the cocktails are well thought out and the liquor selection is extensive. I think that you need to be confident that the bartender has the skills to make a proper cocktail. If not the experience is just not that enjoyable.
