The topic reminds me of the last episode of "Band of Brothers", when the narrator tells us that after the war, George Lutz returned home to Providence, RI and spent the rest of his life as a handyman--and when he died, over 1600 people attended the funeral. That always blew me away.
As for me, my wife has strict instructions to dispose of my remains in the least expensive way possible. I told her that if she spends thousands of dollars for a casket, I'm going to come back to haunt her.
Seriously, if she wheeled out my carcass with the trash on Thursday morning, that would be OK with me.
