I am a federal agent monitoring an online chat-room hosted at a large drug information website. I've developed a persona, complete with pictures, stories from my childhood, and made up [censored] to prove myself to these people.

Hell, I've earned so much of their trust that I'm even the administrator of their forums software.

Right now I'm investigating this guy in the northeast, another guy in San Jose, and another one in Sacramento.

The thing is, I've sort of developed friendships with the people, even visiting some of them, and am beginning to feel terrible about lying to them. I don't think I could possibly arrest any of them or allow the IRC logs be used in any depositions without feeling extreme guilt.

That's my confession.
