Default Random observations from Game 1.........

After Beckett mowed down the side in the first, the first pitch that Francis threw Pedroia was an 88pmh fastball. I turned to me good friend and said..."88 mph fastballs will NOT cut it against the Sox".........Kaboom!

FWIW, It was a combination of Beckett's dominance, plus a very disciplined Sox lineup that turned the game into a route.

But.......It was only one game, and I don't think the Rockies got here by laying down.

Evidently Jimenez has quite a heater, but is a bit wild?

Let's see how the game plays out tonight.

Schilling's fastball has topped out at 90-91 the past few games, which I think makes him eminently hittable unless his location is perfect on every pitch.

Watch the gun....If by the 2nd inning his fastball does not improve to 93-94, the Rockies will probably get some good licks in against him.

It's supposed to be clear, but cold and gusty tonight at Fenway.

We shall see........
