Default Re: Need good plastic cards

I've been using the same deck of KEM cards at my games for about 2 1/2 years. After the first two or three times I played with them I began to love them. They do feel flimsy at first, but I would guess that this is a part of what makes them so difficult to bend and crease.

My friend uses Copag at his games (I play there too). I don't mind the cards, but I often have a problem with a second card coming halfway or completely off the deck when dealing.

I believe the problem is that his cards are completely smooth. As they get played with, the oil, dirt and moisture from people's hands create a bit of a suction/sticky effect. My KEM cards have a very fine texture to them that: 1. makes it inherently easier to push the top card forward without having to apply much pressure. 2. Creates natural gaps between cards to help prevent cards from sticking together.

I will admit that at least some part of the problem with the Copags could be resolved with some card washing. But, I've never had to wash mine for those reasons. (I just do it every month or two to preserve the unstained quality of the card face.)
