Because the remark is exceedingly ill-considered and reprehensible. Accusing somebody or some group of physical violence without a shred of evidence is just wrong. I've never heard to the guy; had he been a more prominent person--say, Limbaugh or Imus--an accusation of violence on the streets of an American city for political reasons would surely, one would think, get major airplay.
