I have an honest question here, I'm not trying to make a point or imply something or anything like that. Just a sincere question: What made you do these things? I'm wondering what the motivation is for [someone normal, not like a serial killer or anything] to hurt someone else for no apparent personal gain. Was it the power/control that you liked, or you were just bored, or what?

I might be able to shed a little bit of light on the subject, as I am someone who has done similar horrible things in the past as Noah described in his post.

Whenever I acted extremely horribly to a girl who liked me (but whom I did not like back), it was because I was determined to get the person out of my life for good. You have tried to break up with her, but she still keeps hanging around. You rationalize to yourself that you are making her hate you so that she can move on with her life, rather than continuing to pine for you. You've tried letting her down easy, but she still kept clinging to hope. You convince yourself that you need to act like a monster in order for her to stop liking you. So you do...but you go overboard and for years afterwards you feel like garbage whenever you think about how you acted. [img]/images/graemlins/tongue.gif[/img]
