to give a slightly more serious answer, most of the time chicks are sizing you up before you say anything, so the only time a greeting matters that much is if
1. you [censored] it up really badly
or
2. you are not very interesting or good looking and thus need to compensate
for the rest of us, just try not to drool or stare at her cans for too long
