Default The reason why...from a pharmacological pt of view

Amphetamines (aderall) have a punding effect.

Punding is human activity characterized by compulsive fascination with and performance of repetitive, mechanical tasks, such as assembling and disassembling, collecting, or sorting household objects

A lot of ADD people use it because their mind is scattered focusing on several stimuli. the punding effect refocuses their mind on single tasks.

Thus, if you are performing an activity that is repetitive it is good. However, for critical thinking it is bad.

Also even milder derivatives (ritalin) are quite frankly not safe IMHO and youa re doing extreme harm to your health by continuing to take this drug. There are too many risk factors and i suspect they will stop prescribing this to college students as study aids.

Problems could be dangerous weight loss, heart problems, and such things as triggering unknown susceptibilities such as psychosis. Marijuana does this too :-/

Amphetamines have been around students for a long time and back in the day they were used to study by several students. THey are banned because of obvious health risks.
