That roar on 17 after Weir made was pretty cool.

That was one of the most chilling sports moments I can remember. Even without the backstory - Weir blows a huge back nine lead, needs to hole that putt to avoid going dormie - the amphitheater setup between 16 and 17 (the 16th green is maybe 100 yards from the 17th green) plus the home favorite made that a truly amazing golf moment. That despite the fact that the Internationals were toast, and in fact officially lost while Weir and Woods played the 18th hole. NBC played it right, he made the putt, they panned out, no commentary, commercial. In all sports, shots of fans going batshit insane in the background are severely underrated.

Prior to this I never liked Weir. I was pissed that he stole the 2003 Masters from Everyman, Len Mattiace. Since then I have derisively referred to him as the "gay midget Canadian robot" and said that his wife looks like that smooth criminal Michael Jackson. But after today I'll be rooting for him.

Those fans were amazing. Even after the outcome was decided they were still going crazy when something good happened for their team. I hope they go back to Canada in the fairly near future, but each team only gets a home course every four years so it may be awhile.
