If someone reads Bill Chen's book, and takes the time to re-read it until he understands it... then I don't understand how he could NOT be a winning player.

That's my point. Most people aren't going to take the time to really really read through the material. After three reads they walk into a casino and wonder what's going wrong. Rather than blame themselves, they blame the book.
I haven't read Math of Poker yet, but.... wait a minute.
