If you play online you might try to satellite into live tournaments at the site you play on.

If you can't win a seat, maybe you're not ready?

I also echo the advice above. Turns off caps lock and read a lot of 2p2 to get an idea for the site content and appropriate posting. Check out different sub forums, multi table tournaments, etc. Read the forum sticky for advice on building a bankroll, etc.
