I've had the opinion for a long time that you can look bad for free; but it costs money to look really, really awful.
If someone drives an old beater car, they may not be able to afford any better.
But if someone drives a car that's had a lot of money spent to pimp it out and it still looks bad, then it's a sign that they have crappy taste.
So for me, trashy is not equated with how much money you have but how you choose to spend that money.
